Hey Sport

Saturday television is basically sports sports and more sports. There's usually quite a bit of selection to watch ranging from usual team sports like netball to spectator sports errr like lawn bowl ... Today was no difference. There was a bit of beach cricket which is eight overs of exciting random bowling and batting. The finishing up of the tennis before the Australia Open starts. Woman's basketball was a bit awkward especially when they try to force fouls. The Woman's League wasn't much better but there was one entertaining event that I was present to see.

So after many years now Australia has dozens of soccer teams here and there. They even managed to get enough girls together to start the W-League. Today's game is Queensland Roar versus Canberra United. It's about three quarters through the game and Queensland's up two goals so Canberra's quite desperate to get on the board. There's a free kick for Canberra just a bit outside the outer goal square (whatever its called) so all the girls line up at the square. As the free kick is taken the line of girls seperate and heads jump to knock the ball in each teams intended direction. A head or two hit the ball and it bounces to the side and several people scramble to get it. One striker on the Canberra side is left on the ground but the game goes on. Canberra players manage to get the ball back in front of where the line of girls were and there's this whole wave of both team players swarming forwards towards the ball. The striker that was knocked down having been on the floor long enough gets up just to manage to get her face in the way of a Canberra kick for goal. Ouch. Basically shes down again but game is still on. Even though it had seemed that her getting in the way had totally diminished their chance of scoring in that attack, the rest of the team manage to score. Unfortunately there's a call offside and a replay pops up. Apparently as the striker had gotten up, everyone else had moved forward just a step leaving her offside and a millisecond later with a ball in her face. Queensland ends up winning anyways.
Even though I'm always hearing how its too dangerous for girls to play with guys, just watching something like that leaves me thinking that girls probably try harder than guys and probably endure more hurt from each others than they probably would get from guys.
I've also had my share of ball injuries while playing soccer. However there's one place that hurts more than the face that only a guy can go through ><.

I just realized that post how I said that I shedded like a cat shedding hair probably could of be described better as a snake shedding skin XD. Meh looks like I finally have to clean my room to clean all this skin up :P.
